Apologies for somehow missing out on a simple detail, but you'll also need to add a Saturate node in order to ensure that the value range that is passed into the Opacity port stays within the 0-1 range that it expects:

I'm not sure why the sample I've sent didn't behave as it should've at that time, but this should solve the issue!
